Your Nervous System Isn’t Broken

When people first come to counseling for anxiety, they often describe themselves as broken — as if something has gone fundamentally wrong with them. But a racing heart, a tight chest, a mind that won’t settle: these are not glitches. They are a nervous system doing precisely what it was trained to do.

Learned, Not Wired

Our bodies are shaped by what we’ve lived through. A system that once had to stay on high alert learned that vigilance kept us safe. The good news hidden inside that fact is simple: what was learned can be relearned. Regulation is a skill, not a fixed trait.

Where We Start

We begin by getting curious rather than critical. Noticing the early signals, naming them without judgment, and slowly teaching the body that this moment is different from the past. Change here is quiet and steady — and it holds.
